Street View Area/Comments Section of Promenade

Loch Prom

Paving work on the footway (pavement) on Loch Promenade is continuing between Victoria Street through to Granville Street. The Regent Street pedestrian crossing is out of use at the moment with additional disabled parking at Howard Street.

As the works is progressing all entrances to properties is being maintained by way of a flat bridge (same width as the entrance) to the footway coned off on the highway..
The bus stop and shelter have moved to further down Loch Promenade with another stop and shelter installed on Victoria Street. Directional signage will be in key places advising the public.
Works will continue on the landside of Loch Promenade through to May 2020.


Harris Promenade

Work will continue from Loch Promenade to Harris Promenade - 2 way traffic will be maintained.

Church Road Marina has re-opened with Finch Road traffic direction remaining as it has been for the foreseeable future.

A new layout is in use now please CLICK HERE and HERE to view the traffic management. There is a narrower stream of 2-way traffic so please adhere to the 20mph speed limit.

Central Promenade

Broadway will close from 13 April 2020 until the beginning of TT practice week - 29 May 2020 with Church Road Marina will close again after TT, re-opening for the Festival of Motorcycling.

The rail corridor will continue with steel fixing, rail fixing and welding plus concrete and asphalt laying.Traffic lights will be in place during concrete deliveries with the pedestrian crossing near the old Imperial Hotel site. The pedestrian crossing will be out of use when the traffic lights are being used. Updates will be posted on our social media feed @mypromisleofman 

Queen's Promenade

Excavation work continues on the seaward side from opposite Millennium Court southwards on the drainage installation. Asphalt has been laid along this section of the Promenade.

Works will commence on the installation of the water main from Queen's pub through to Century Court this week.

Structural works on the seaward side of Strathallan are complete with full parking available in this area. The final surface will be applied to completed sections much later on in the project. This will ensure a smoother and seamless finish to the tarmac. Parking is permitted with cones left to highlight raised iron work and street furniture.

4 Week Program (Auldyn Construction Ltd.)

This document will be updated every 2 weeks - this document will commence on 16 March 2020. 

The program gives an overview of the areas planned work is set to commence over the next 4 weeks. The schedule is split between North and South and sub sections of seaside and land side.

Some of the work is weather dependent, for example concrete can not be poured in poor weather and the work force may be relocated to another area along the promenade.

Free 30 minutes parking
Parking in the CastleMona Car Park has been of great assistance to the local businesses however due to continual work in the CastleMona site this must soon come to an end.

The DOI would like to say thank you to the Tevir group for allowing us use of the land and offer car parking facilities.

The Parking signs will be removed on Friday 13th March. Until such time the 30 Minute disc zone will remain in force.
Summerland parking
The old Summerland site, at the northern end of the Promenade, has been designated free parking for up to 24 hours x 34. Why not park and walk?
Strathallan walkway
Free x 24 parking spaces for up to 2 hours (disc needs to be displayed) on the Walkway opposite the Terminus pub at the northern end of the Promenade.
Please note this area is subject to coastal overtopping if a yellow weather warning or above is issued.
The Walkway
Over 220 spaces (including 12 disabled spaces) for up to 2 hours (disc must be displayed) on the Walkway between The War Memorial and the Bottleneck car park.

Please note this area is 10mph as it is a multi user area.

Additionally this area can experience coastal overtopping in the event of a yellow weather warning.
Taxi drop off/pick up
Area in front of The Best Western Palace Hotel and Casino.
Taxi Pick up and drop off for the Sefton Hotel is currently directly outside.
Various car parks at the southern end of Douglas Promenade - free overnight parking between 6pm-8am
The Department of Infrastructure has made available, for the period of the scheme, free parking at Parade Street East, Parade Street West and The Tongue (beside Douglas Yacht Club).
Various areas on Douglas Promenade for coach drop off/pick up
Designated area in front of the Best Western Hotel and Casino on Central Promenade.
There is space for up to 2 coaches but please note it is not permitted to park in this area overnight as used by all hotels in the vicinity.
Lined area on Castle Mona Avenue can be used for drop off/pick up. Also a drop off area outside the Chesterhouse Hotel on Loch Promenade.

Parking areas are 5 additional spaces on King Edward Road (at the northern end of Douglas Promenade) plus 2 on Finch Road, above Church Road Marina.

We are currently pulling together a leaflet for 2020 explaining to tour operators, coach companies (and their drivers) hotels, guest houses where they can drop off and pick up along with the location for parking of their vehicles.
