Updates

Update on traffic management as at 7 August 2019

Castle Drive to The Esplanade – heading south

The work at Mona Drive has been completed ahead of schedule and the temporary traffic lights have been removed from this section of the Promenade.

The traffic management arrangements will be updated to support the efficient progress of the scheme. This will include the extension of the safety fencing from the Castle Drive to the Esplanade. See traffic management plan for all the details - please click here

Once the fencing is extended nearer to The Empress Hotel coaches for this hotel will need to drop off and pick up space at The Castle Mona Avenue allocated space.

Users of the Promenade are reminded that the suspension of parking within coned areas will be enforced and the 20mph speed limit is still in place along the full length of Douglas Promenade.

Castle Mona Arcade – additional cones for concrete deliveries.

Once again, to assist with concreting work in the rail corridor, the Contractor needs to suspend two of the footway parking spaces outside Utopia for one-two hours between 8am-4.30pm. This is for safety reasons as larger vehicles may encroach into these areas.

The Contractor will limit the use of these parking cones as much as possible and the work in this area is estimated to be completed by Saturday 10th August (weather permitting).

The traffic lights will only be in operation during actual deliveries of the concrete.

All other parking in front of the shops will remain unaffected during this time.

Festival of Motorcycling

These are being distributed to all key stakeholders.

Horse trams

The tram corridor is being extended by an additional 250 metres in time for the Festival of Motorcycling. This will allow a temporary right hand turn out of The Best Western Palace Hotel and Casino.  Further updates re traffic management will be issued post the Festival.
