Updates

Regent Street closed

From Monday 25 March 2019 Regent Street will close from Douglas Promenade up to Villiers Lane to allow the contractors Auldyn Construction and the statutory undertakers to carry out works in this area including utility installation. This is part of the phase for Loch Promenade works continuing on landside.

Both the highway and the footway will be closed - therefore both vehicles (including all deliveries) and pedestrians will be prohibited. The pedestrian crossing at Regent Street will also be out of use.  We have had meetings with all key stakeholders but should there be any queries please do not hesitate to contact the MyProm Project Office on 686363, email myprom@gov.im or call into the public office - open Monday-Friday 9am-4pm. We also update all our social media feeds.

It is worth noting the following points:

Walkway parking

Marked up disabled parking will be available on the Promenade walkway opposite Regent Street.  Please note the walkway is 24 hours a day with a 2 hour restriction time zone on it.

Deliveries

Every effort will be made to keep Villiers Lane clear of congestion with some goods vehicles needing to use Strand Street via Howard Street exiting through Duke Street. Normal delivery times between 5pm-10am will be enforced. It is paramount that trucks off-loading on Howard Street, post these hours, do not block the entrance or exit to this lane. We have been in touch with delivery companies – goods, oil, post, refuse collections etc.

Unnamed Road – between Victoria Street and Regent Street

This street will become 2-way traffic for the period of this closure so it is essential that all users which include many businesses and offices are aware of this fact. Please do not park or block this essential access route as access is required 24 hours to office parking along with an underground car park.

Please see full traffic management plan

Thank you for your continued understanding and cooperation in making Douglas Promenade more special.
