Church Road Marina closure - emergency

The Department of Infrastructure, as part of the Douglas Promenade Refurbishment Scheme, announce that it is necessary to close Church Road Marina with effect from 9.30am on Monday 9 March until 4pm on Wednesday 11 March 2020 at very latest. The works will commence post the morning rush hour. An update will be posted as soon as the road is open.

This is to accommodate remedial works to the existing pelican crossing. The existing crossing is to be replaced with a zebra crossing.

Please be aware that a new layout will be in place on Harris Promenade from Tuesday 10 March 2020  CLICK HERE for all the details.

The changes include a new stop sign nearer the corner beside Argyle House. Access in front of the Sefton Hotel and the Gaiety Theatre will also open up with a clear route through to Broadway. The disabled parking bay along with the bus stop and the taxi rank will also be clearly accessible.

These changes will be fairly significant with both south and northbound lanes running in parallel along the front of the Sefton/Gaiety to Broadway with pedestrians using the zebra crosisng. Please note the entrance to the walkway parking will be slightly further north, nearer to the War Memorial.

These changes are to facilitate a new 180mm gas main and a water main.

We would like to thank the Manx public for their cooperation and understanding.
