10mph on the Walkway

We have had a number of calls regarding motorists exceeding the 10mph speed limit on the Walkway.

During the works, to support all the residents and businesses, on Loch Promenade, the decision has been made to provide alternative parking on the Walkway but it is essential that motorists consider other users of the Walkway and adhere to the 10mph limit in this area. Our partners in the Central neighbourhood policing team are paying particular attention to this area and are taking enforcement action.

Reverse parking is also necessary. There are 12 disabled parking bays at Howard Street and Regent Street. Additional signage directing pedestrians to the businesses on Loch Promenade have been placed in key areas. Please consider other motorists when parking as there are a lot of residents using the Walkway to park. As Autumn/Winter approaches please follow @mypromisleofman for updates on weather warnings for coastal overtopping on the Walkway and at Strathallan - all parking is at the owner's risk.

Lots of additional parking has been provided at Summerland (free of charge for up to 24 hours), Strathallan Walkway (for 2 hours), Parade Street East, Parade Street West and The Tongue car parks are free overnight between 6pm-8am along with many multi storey car parks in the surrounding area (charges will apply).

Only one of Howard Street, Regent Street or Granville Street will be closed at any one time - please call into the public office at the Sea Terminal, Monday to Friday between 9am-4pm, email myprom@gov.im or ring 01624 686363 if you have any further queries.
