Please support your local businesses along the Promenade.
We are working closely with the businesses and residents along the 2.6km of promenade and are in the process of implementing a number of practical measures to assist in alleviating the impact of the works on them. Please support your local businesses – the Promenade will be great once completed but is it important that the Manx public show their support at this time.
The businesses at the bottom of Summerhill, Marathon Terrace and Castle Mona Arcade are directly impacted by the works at the moment, so if visiting these businesses please be aware where you can park/drop off or get picked up.
Buses and taxis are still able to drop off-pick up along the promenade. If driving, please remain aware of the parking limitations – it may seem an easy option to park on footways but this does inconvenience other footway users.
To assist taxis please be ready (and outside) when the taxi is due to arrive.
Marathon Terrace – private land in front of these premises can be used by the customers visiting the businesses. Please be aware it is private land so don’t park there if you don’t have permission – it is their driveway!
Additionally there is parking at the Unity Dance School at the top of Switzerland Road – by kind permission of Linzi Brown.
Pedestrian access will open up once the tram season starts along with fencing in this area.
Castle Mona Arcade – there are a number of spaces in a co-shared taxi rank available in front of the Best Western Palace Hotel and Casino which can be used for drop off and pick up at any of the businesses in this vicinity.
We are in the process of putting in place 4 x car parking spaces on the footway in front of the shops.
Summerhill – customer only parking at the tram stables car park beside Kurries and Steaks, Mamma’s Kitchen, L’Experience and The Regency – these are permit only spaces for the sole use of these businesses;
Free parking at Summerland for up to 24 hours will be in place shortly plus additional parking on the walkway by Strathallan – 2 hours only – sometime next week;
Please note these all the above spaces will be monitored by the Parking team.
