It is good to see the better weather coming in. Douglas Promenade continues to be busy with works on multiple fronts. This is necessary in order to achieve a completion date of October 2020 and due to the extent of the works involving a huge amount of infrastructure replacement (Manx Utilities/Manx Gas/Manx Telecom/Douglas Borough Council/Sure). We appreciate there is inconvenience and are doing everything to work with all stakeholders to reduce disruption. Please be aware we are required to maintain 2 way traffic flow.
The concrete base slab to the tram track began this week with 100 – 140 metres per week. This work is in preparation for the installation of the tramlines. The tramlines will then be bolted down.
The area of working is from the bottom of Summerhill through to just north of the Palace Hotel. We are endeavouring to establish a pedestrian crossing in this area but due to the length of the works (approximately 800 metres) this will not happen until the tramlines are installed in this area. thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
The service ducting and water main laying is being installed on Harris Promenade. At the bottom of Broadway there is no right turn onto Douglas Promenade - traffic lights, southbound towards the Sea Terminal are not in use but need to be maintained northbound due to the left hand turn onto Douglas Promenade from Broadway and the pedestrian crossing. This temporary road closure is for up to 8 weeks but once site investigation has been carried out and the necessary works completed we will re-open as soon as possible.
The Utility and service road crossings continue at Loch Promenade with parking suspension in place. Regent Street will be closing from 22 March 2019.
Thank you for all your patience, cooperation and understanding. We are working towards making Douglas Promenade more special and a lasting legacy for decades to come. Should you have any queries please drop into MyProm office at the Sea Terminal, ground floor - open Monday to Friday 9am-4pm, ring 686363 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
